SOUTH EVELEIGH’S ‘ALFRESCO DISCO’ 🌝🌿 We are SO excited to be taking part in @destination_nsw ‘Sydney’s Open For Lunch’ event on Friday 3 December. @southeveleigh tree-lined Innovation Plaza will be transformed into a one-day festival of food, drinks & dance floor, celebrating the vibrant culture of the city’s inner south west. My inspirational neighbour, trailblazer @matt_whiley & his RE @_wearere team will serve up their delicious cocktails, alongside LK’s Hokkien noodles w raw Hiramasa kingfish, sticky pork & South Eveleigh Australian native herbs. There will be vegetarian options + our special LK dressing & Chilli sauce. For me, it’s an absolute privilege collaborating with cutting-edge visionary @matt_whiley who is positively impacting & changing the way we approach drinking, his RE no-waste policy is revolutionary. We can’t wait to welcome our precious community back, to reconnect & reunite after months of separation & to celebrate the first week of summer. Alfresco Disco will run across two sessions (lunch 12-3pm / dinner 6-9pm). RE’s pop-up bar will be open 12pm-10pm plus guests are welcome to purchase food from our Locomotive St retailers, more drinks from the bar, & enjoy the disco. SOUTH EVELEIGH SOLSTICE FESTIVAL 🌖🌗🌘🌚 Our South Eveleigh community is absolutely thrilled to be a part of @destination_nsw just announced program @sydneysolstice In the lead up to the longest night of the year, Sydney will come out of hibernation for this incredibly dynamic festival celebrating food, drink, art, entertainment and culture. Our @southeveleigh Solstice Festival will be the first major public event to be held on our rejuvenated, energetic and historic site, and on the 18th and 19th of June during Solstice, we will transform @southeveleigh into a medley of activity - fusing performance, art installations, music, food and drinks into a free street festival for all. Proud Cudgenburra / Bundjalung man and South Eveleigh educator, mentor and environmentalist @clarenceslockee w his @jiwah.au crew will run workshops across the two days on the native flora and fauna that is integral to the @southeveleigh land. Global bar consultant, internationally renowned bartender, founder of game changing ‘RE’ @_wearere the world’s first permanent, no-waste bar, and @southeveleigh Maven of Beverages, @matt_whiley will be curating an exciting program of events and activations.
South Eveleigh has always been a place of gathering, in pre-colonial times Southern clans would meet upon this significant site to do business with the Gadigal. The South Eveleigh Solstice Festival will be our first major public event and on the 18th and 19th of June during Solstice, we will transform South Eveleigh into a medley of activity – fusing performance, art installations, music, food and beverage into a free street festival for everyone to enjoy! 🎉

@jiwah.au , an Indigenous cultural and landscape design firm, will run workshops across the two days on the native flora that is integral to the South Eveleigh land. Our Brokenwood Cellar door project is the largest complex in the Hunter Valley wine region, covering 1,400 square metres. Featuring unique circular tasting 'pods', an expansive outdoor terrace with views over the Hunter Valley, private tasting and dining rooms, a wine museum overlooking our working barrel hall.

As part of @WorldSquare revitalisation process; our company @VillaandVilla reached out to our brilliant partner @MikalaTai at @4a_Aus to curate some of these hiding spaces with in the centre. She suggested to commission “A friend of Mine Design Studio”; to bring to life these black and white hints of calligraphy for one of the Lift Lobbies.
The result is a very bold, cool and fresh piece of public art.
Love when the elevator door’s opens and people’s first impression is WOW!

This centre supports and employs a vast number of locals. Our client @isptproperty is investing in our regional centres; this is a great example in how this company continues to support regional communities. McDonald Concept Drive Thru

The instantly recognizable golden arches are still there, but the international fast-food giant McDonald’s is transforming its image around the world, with the help of Australian design company Villa+Villa. Gone are the staid American-style brick buildings, with brightly coloured and lit interiors filled with fibreglass tables and steel chairs. Springing up in their place are contemporary buildings featuring folded exterior planes — what Villa+Villa refers to as its ‘Blade and Ribbon’ concept. And the rollout is continuing around the globe. In the last six years Villa+Villa’s Blade and Ribbon Construction Package — which shows countries how to adapt the model to suit their own local materials — has been used to design over 500 new restaurants and renovate another 100 existing buildings.

Villa + Villa is the brains behind the design and redevelopment of a $37 million upgrade of Melbourne’s Barkly Square Shopping Centre and its laneway. Barkly Square — owned by property fund managers ISPT — is located just over 5km north of Melbourne’s CBD, in the heart of Brunswick’s multicultural community. The Centre has gone through many transformations, but in 2013-14 it underwent its biggest redevelopment yet, designed by Villa+Villa, who also revitalised the adjacent laneway with commissioned art murals by hip young artists. Since the renovation Barkly Square’s moving annual turnover (MAT) has jumped 35%, pushing it up 45 places in the Mini Major Category, from a lowly 47th place to finish in the top 2. Barkly Square was also short-listed for the 2015 Innovation Design Awards in the shopping centre category by the Property Council of Australia.
